A diet rich in soy is purported to reduce the incidence of several autoimmune diseases. Our aim was to assess the association between soy food intake and a diagnosis of Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis (UC). We performed a nested case-control study of individuals diagnosed with either Crohn's disease or UC and frequency matched on age, sex, and location at the time of diagnosis. Soy food intake was assessed with a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire. Odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were estimated using conditional logistic regression, adjusting for age, sex, country, education, body mass index, and diet. This study was completed on 152 Crohn's disease cases, and 532 UC cases. We observed no association between soy intake and a diagnosis of either Crohn's disease or UC. There was no statistically significant association between soy intake and a diagnosis of Crohn's disease (OR 1.01, 95% CI: 0.86, 1.18) or UC (OR 0.88, 95% CI: 0.78, 1.01). The study does not support the concept that soy consumption confers protection against either Crohn's disease or UC.The present invention relates to a cable assembly and a connection thereof.
